The Phantom Diaries Volume 1 Kailin Gow Books

It's like the book wasn't even proofread for basic grammatical errors. There are misuse of/missing punctuation marks, typos, verbs that are in present when should be in past tense, random shifts from first-person to second-person within one beat, the list goes on. There're also major issues with the timeline. One chapter, dated at Dec. 6th, the protagonist worries about her first "high society" event. The next chapter, dated at Dec. 11th, the protagonist says her nerves about these events are gone and that the past "few weeks" have been hectic. It had been only 5 days. Errors like this are so small and so easily fixed! I love the Phantom of the Opera so much, so this really left me saddened and felt like a major disservice to the original story.

The Phantom Diaries Volume 1 Kailin Gow Books Reviews

This book took a classic love story and killed it. So not worth your time or money. Read her other series, those are actually good.
Maybe it's because I was so excited about this that I was so let down by it, or maybe because I worked so hard to get it, I don't know. What I do know is all the work wasn't worth it!

This book is sickening, and I find it to be a bit of a disgrace to the Phantom fandom. I immediately canceled the pre-order to the next book when I finished reading this one.

The idea behind it was amazing, an 18 year old seamstress goes to the Metropolitan Opera to work and falls for the mysterious Phantom. You know, the usual stuff. What made this book horrible though was it was just so corny and so fast. The first day she meets a cute guy, and he asks her for a date. Maybe six days later she is making out with him and almost goes all the way with him! What the hell? Not to much time later and it seems everyone is after her! The owner, the first chair violinist, the Phantom. I have no idea what to say, this was so ridiculous that I just wanted to throw the book across the room.

This was another book that made me extremely angry. I don't think I will be thinking about trying to pick this book up again.

Hopefully My next book will be a lot better.
Painful
I loved this book and can't wait for the second one to come out this month! It supplied the perfect mixture of romance, mystery, loveable characters, and a good twist in the end!
I don't believe in ruining anyone's surprise, so I am not giving away ANY of the story.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! I have to say this is one of my favorite series so far, I love this take on the Phantom. Kailin did a fantastic job creating the story and the characters. This book was AMAZING! I am a huge fan of her books, she has out done herself with this one!
I love everything about the mysterious Phantom of the Opera stories, movies, music, etc. So when I saw this book I totally wanted to read it. So Ive read the book about 3-4 times and I love it. I do wish it had more of an intenser(?) story line but I still love reading it again and again. When it got closer to the end of the book thats when I really started to enjoy the book even more! Cant wait to read the rest of the series.
I didn't really know what to expect from this story, but once I started reading, I coulnd't stop! Gow's imagination seems endless, continuing the tragic story of the Phantom of the Opera, but adding twists and turns I never expected. I really enjoyed how Gow was able to keep the story moving at such a fast pace, keeping it interesting and making it hard to put the book (or kindle) down. I can't wait to read the sequel!
